Frequently asked questions
Is Passpip the official test?
No. Passpip is an independent practice app and is not affiliated with BAMF. The questions come from the official BAMF catalogue; you take the real test at an approved test centre.
How many questions do I need to get right?
The test has 33 questions and lasts 60 minutes. For citizenship you need 17 correct answers; for the “Leben in Deutschland” certificate in the integration course you need 15. Passpip practises with the mark that applies to you.
Is Passpip free?
Yes. All 310 questions with the correct answers, 50 questions with explanations and 1 mock exam a day are free. The Pass Pack (€5.99, one-time, no subscription) unlocks every explanation and unlimited mock exams.
Which state questions do I get?
You learn the 300 general questions plus the 10 questions for your state: 310 in total. You pick your state when you start and can change it any time in Settings.
Which languages are the explanations in?
The questions always appear in the official German wording, as in the real test. Explanations are in simple German and English. You can also use the app itself in Arabic and Turkish.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Practice, mock exams and your progress all work offline. Only buying the Pass Pack needs a connection.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up. Your study progress stays on your phone.
What if an answer is wrong?
Every answer is checked against BAMF's Online-Testcenter. If you still spot a problem, tap “Report a problem” on the question. Every correction is listed publicly on “About the questions”.
I got a new phone. What now?
Android's backup brings your progress back when you sign in with the same Google account. Restore the Pass Pack in Settings with “Restore purchase”.
Is Passpip on iPhone?
Not yet. Passpip starts on Android.
